Successful commissioning of a few hydro projects in last two years has added 2487 MW of cheap and clean energy in Pakistan’s Grid and is reducing our reliance on expensive IPPs. After Mohmand Dam and Dasu Project as Pakistan is all gear up for a cracker of Diamer Basha Dam to commence in a few weeks time (despite Corona crisis) anti dam lobbies and IPPs-lead foreign vested groups have unleashed a propaganda against the Technical design of the dam. Diamer Basha Dam with capacity of 4500 MW power generation and gross water capacity of 8.1 MAF will be a game changer for the future of Pakistan. This will practically put an end to exploitation by IPPs in Pakistan hence this panic. The very fundamental issues like seismic effect, technical design, environmental impacts and resettlement issues are being quoted to coerce Pakistan to abandon or delay the project.
Technical Design is based on MONENCO studies by a Canadian company and reviewed by following World Experts:
1984 – 1986
Mr. Alfonso Posada
Prof Fiedrich Karl Ewert
Prof Francesso Ilceto
Mr. Earnest L. Pemberton
Syed S. Kirmani
Mr. Nelson De. Pinto
Mr. Walkeer Wittke
Review 2002 – 2004
Mr. J. Barry Cooke
Mr. Brian Forbes
Mr. Nelson De. Pinto
Mr. Amjad Agha
2008
Engineering design by Lahmyre International! German consultants
Review of the Design
Mr. Fabio Villegas
Mr. Walter Wittke
Mr. Brian Forbes
Prof Dr. Abdul Shakoor
Now the project of Diamer Basha Dam is being supervised by an Implementation Committee formed by Supreme Court of Pakistan and has living legend like Shams-ul- Mulk on the committee.
Besides some international repute experts, following Pakistani engineers will also supervise the project as experts:
Mr. Sardar Tariq
Mr. Khalid Mohtadullah
Lt Gen Shahid Niaz (Retd)
So be mindful of such propaganda and the forces which have kept Pakistan hostage for decades.
Reject these pessimists and moth eaters.
Long Live Pakistan
