Syed Khalid Siraj Subhani has been given the acting charge of Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), following the resignation of the company’s incumbent MD/CEO Shahid Salim Khan.
The Board of Directors of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) in its 240th meeting held on October 14, 2021, has accepted the resignation of the company’s MD/CEO , Shahid Salim Khan, said a letter shared by the OGDCL with Karachi Stock Exchange Limited and London Stock Exchange Plc. It was further noted in the letter that Shahid Salim Khan will relinquish the charge of office of MD/CEO on October 20, 2021.
Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) Managing Director (MD) Shahid Salim had last month resigned from his post after serving for 21 months as MD/CEO. The outgoing MD/CEO had tendered his resignation due to personal reasons.
Syed Khalid Siraj Subhani, Director OGDCL, will resume the acting charge of the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the company upon the relinquishment of charge by Shahid Salim Khan on October 20, 2021, said the letter.
The new MD/CEO, Syed Khalid Siraj Subhani, is director at OGDCL, as per the profile available on the OGDCL website. It further said that Subhani is a Chemical Engineer with Executive Management Programme from Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley and Leadership program from MIT, Boston.
A seasoned executive, his career spanned over 33 years with Exxon Chemical Pakistan Limited, which subsequently became Engro Chemical Pakistan Limited and later Engro Corporation Limited. This included long term assignments with Esso Chemical Canada in Edmonton and at ICI site in Billingham UK.
Over the years, he worked in numerous senior executive positions at Engro and played instrumental role in growth and diversification of the company to make it one of the largest business conglomerates of Pakistan. Prior to retirement from Engro, he worked as President and Chief Executive Officer of Engro Corporation Limited, Engro Fertilisers Limited and Engro Polymer and Chemicals Limited. Subhani also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of ThalNova Power Thar Private Limited for a period of two years.
Earlier, Subhani also served on the board of Engro Corporation Limited (Director), Hub Power Company Limited (Director), Engro Foods Limited (Director), Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company Limited (Director), Laraib Energy Limited (Director), Engro Fertilisers Limited (Board Chairman), Engro Polymer and Chemicals Limited (Board Chairman), Engro Vopak Terminal Limited (Board Chairman), Thar Power Company Limited (Board Chairman), Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited (Board Chairman), Engro Elengy Terminal (Private) Limited (Board Chairman) and Engro Eximp Agri Products (Private) Limited (Board Chairman). He also served as chairman of Board Technical Committees & Board Human Resource Committees at Hub Power Company and Laraib Energy Limited. Few of other engagements of Subhani have been Vice President – Overseas Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OICCI), Director – Vinyl Chloride Safety Association of North America, Baton Rouge, USA, Member of Business Advisory Council – Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Member Academic Council and Faculty Selection Board – Institute of Business Administration Sukkur, Sindh, Member Standing Committee on Environment – FPCCI, Member – Pakistan Japan Business Forum (PJBF).
