Islamabad: Today, 100 trees were planted in Islamabad by the Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) to follow the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan for creating a positive image of the country by making it clean and green. The Managing Director PPIB Mr. Shah Jahan Mirza inaugurated the event by planting a tree and thereafter all the PPIB senior officials fully participated in planting the 100 trees which include peach, citrus, guava and plum trees. The initiative was supported by the Capital Development Authority by providing logistic support.
MD PPIB said that over the years Islamabad has witnessed a reduction in tree cover, and if we all fulfil our social responsibility to plant trees, the city will soon turn into a green canvas. Such drives in other cities under the “Clean, Green Pakistan” movement will eventually turn Pakistan into an environmentally clean homeland as the massive plantation would also help in addressing the challenge of growing pollution in the cities and with a larger aim to address the phenomenon of global warming.
MD PPIB said that PPIB has been part of the plantation drive in the preceding years as well and will continue to support the Honourable Prime Minister Imran Khan in this noble drive which is truly the need of the time. The PPIB has been making important contributions through addition of new power generation capacity from private sector power projects to eliminate chronic load shedding from the country, and accords top priority to safeguarding the environment in establishing power generation plants and ensures that these are eco-friendly and strictly abide with the standards established by the relevant environment protection agencies.
