Abdul Rasheed, President Site Association of Industry has expressed serious concerns over 8 hours’ load shedding from 12:00 a.m. at night to 8:00 a.m. in the morning in SITE area on daily basis. He said that load shedding is bound to have adverse impact on the economy, particularly on export industries. As such, the government should ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity to industries to keep the wheels of industry moving and to ship export orders on time.
In a statement, SAI chief said that industrial production is being badly affected due to 8 hours long load shedding and it has become difficult for industry owners to produce goods as per demand. The industries are already facing the issues like low gas pressure and liquidity crisis amongst other issues which are affecting industrial production. The 8 hours’ load shedding is proving to be disastrous for the industries.
‘‘Industries survived during COVID-19 period with extreme difficulty and there is need to support & promote industries. But unfortunately, problems are being created for industries. Industrial promotion is the only solution to create jobs and bring the country out of economic crisis’’, he said, adding that if such industry non-friendly moves are not stopped, there will remain no option but to close down industries.
Abdul Rasheed the Govt and KE to immediately end night load shedding in SITE area in the name of load management and consult the stakeholders before taking any such step in future.
