Gas Shutdown in Sindh

SSGC

In an official statement released on Thursday, the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) declared a temporary cessation of gas supplies to industries and compressed natural gas (CNG) stations across Sindh for a 48-hour period, commencing from Saturday morning. The decision, attributed to low pressure and shortages within the gas system, aligns with the approved gas sales agreement for industrial clients, sanctioned by both the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet. This agreement grants SSGC the authority to manage gas distribution in accordance with sectoral priorities.

The gas suspension is scheduled to commence at 8:00 am on Saturday, March 2, 2024, and conclude at 8:00 am on Monday, March 4, 2024. It will impact all industrial operations, including their power generation units, as well as all CNG stations within Sindh, including those utilizing re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG).

SSGC issued a stern warning, stating that strict action will be taken against any industry found violating the designated gas holiday period. Offending industries risk having their gas supplies disconnected for a minimum of seven days.
