Two lac Sindh families to get Solar panels at affordable rates; Check prices, dates other scheme details

KARACHI – Pakistan’s hunger for energy is growing fast amid surge in population and due to other factors, and now the government is stepping in to provide solar setups to deserving families.

The distribution of solar energy among Sindh families offers energy accessibility for all, environmental sustainability, and less burden on government energy generation. It also provides electricity to remote areas, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and axing emissions.

To empower people generate their energy, the governments of Punjab and Sindh have announced plans for solar panels to the public at affordable rates.

Sindh Solar Scheme 2024

Sindh government, in collaboration with World Bank, will distribute solar systems at an affordable price of Rs 7,000 for households across the region, preferably to those living in rural areas.

The initiative aims to distribute solar panels to 200,000 households in province, including 50,000 in provincial capital Karachi at just Rs7,000. The solar system will be able to power fan and multiple LED bulbs.

In each district, 6,656 families will get solar system. The initiative will start in October this year once the purchasing is done, with packages including solar panels, charge controllers, and batteries.

Punjab Solar Package

Furthermore, the government of Punjab will also provide free solar systems to 50,000 households in the province. Contrasting to Sindh, the Punjab government will distribute solar system to families consuming up to 100 units of electricity per month.

It has been learnt that government will cover all costs, including installation. The project, costing 10 billion rupees, excludes households involved in electricity theft, meter tampering, or similar activities.
