NEPRA Names K-Electric Top Performer in Electricity Provision

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has recognized K-Electric as the top performer in its “HSE Performance Evaluation Report 2024.” This annual assessment evaluates health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards within the electricity sector, ensuring adherence to strict safety protocols and continuous improvements.

K-Electric has shown significant advancements across all areas, from power generation to distribution, consistently meeting NEPRA’s rigorous HSE benchmarks. The report highlights K-Electric’s impressive performance, awarding it the highest consumer satisfaction rating for electricity provision. Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) follows in second place, with Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) in third. Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) secured fourth place, while Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) trailed in fifth. Sukkur and Hyderabad distribution companies ranked lowest in performance metrics.

K-Electric received an outstanding score of 95 for electricity supply. The evaluation report provides a comprehensive analysis of K-Electric’s performance and other distribution companies’ performance across various parameters. K-Electric was assessed both as a Generation and Distribution licensee.

In terms of Generation Performance, K-Electric’s scores increased from 62 in 2020/21 to 90 in 2021/22, and further to an impressive 96.5 in 2022/23. Similarly, its Transmission Performance metrics saw a significant rise, from 61 in 2020/21 to an exceptional 95 in both 2021/22 and 2022/23. Its Distribution Performance also remained consistently high, with scores of 62 in 2020/21, 91 in 2021/22, and 88 in 2022/23, maintaining an outstanding rating throughout.

The report underscores K-Electric’s commitment to enhancing its operational standards and delivering reliable electricity, setting a benchmark for other distribution companies in the sector.
