ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to visit China on Tuesday, aiming to enhance economic and trade relations between the two nations. Invited by President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, the visit is anticipated to foster collaboration in the energy and IT sectors through various memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and agreements.
During his visit, PM Sharif will engage with corporate executives from leading Chinese companies in the fuel and energy sectors, and address the Pakistan-China Business Forum. He will also meet entrepreneurs and investors from both countries to bolster business-to-business relations.
The PM’s itinerary includes visits to Beijing, Xian, and Shenzhen. In Beijing, he will meet with President Xi Jinping and hold delegation-level talks with Premier Li Qiang. Additional meetings are planned with the chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and other key government officials.
Ahead of the visit, PM Sharif chaired a preparatory meeting on Friday, emphasizing the importance of providing maximum support to Chinese industrialists and investors. He will be accompanied by a delegation of Pakistani industrialists and entrepreneurs to Shenzhen to engage with the Chinese business community.
Joining the Prime Minister are Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and other key ministers and senior bureaucrats, underscoring the significance of this diplomatic mission.
