Commits to Strengthening Pakistan’s Energy Infrastructure

BEIJING: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his government’s commitment to bolstering the alternative energy system in Pakistan, emphasizing the vast investment opportunities within the sector during a meeting with the Chairman of Power China on Wednesday.

The prime minister detailed his administration’s extensive efforts to combat power theft nationwide. The Power China chairman praised the swift and high-quality completion of the Sahiwal Coal Power Plant, referencing the terms “Pakistan Speed” and “Punjab Speed” to describe the rapid execution of development projects.

During the meeting, the chairman revealed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be signed with Pakistan to enhance the power transmission network and minimize line losses.

The meeting was attended by several key figures, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar, Power Minister Awais Ahmed Leghari, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.
