Visa-Free Entry for Chinese Citizens from August 14: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that from August 14, 2024, Chinese citizens will be granted visa-free entry to Pakistan. He highlighted the mutual benefits of relocating Chinese industries to Pakistan through joint projects during a meeting with a high-level 12-member Chinese delegation led by Minister Wang Fukang.

Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the significance of joint projects for both nations, expressing confidence in the positive outcomes of the delegation’s visit. He noted that recent meetings with Chinese leadership have spurred high-level delegations to Pakistan, enhancing cooperation in industry, agriculture, special economic zones, mining, minerals, and IT.

The prime minister informed the Chinese delegation of the Cabinet’s decision to provide free visas to Chinese citizens, effective from August 14. He also conveyed condolences and regret over the Bisham incident, assuring that those responsible have been arrested and will be punished according to the law. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens.

The Prime Minister’s Office stated that the Chinese delegation’s visit follows the premier’s trip to China, aiming to boost cooperation in various sectors. The 12-member delegation, comprising representatives from 10 ministries, will discuss Chinese investment in Pakistan, the second phase of CPEC, and the promotion of Pakistan’s exports. They will meet with various ministries, sector experts, and visit different locations in Pakistan to foster collaboration in information technology, agriculture, industry, investment, energy, minerals and mining, special economic zones, and communication.
