Historic Milestone: All-Female Team Installs Solar Roof in Pakistan

Karachi, Pakistan – In a groundbreaking achievement, LADIESFUND Energy has empowered female engineers in Pakistan by completing the country’s first solar roof installation by an all-female team. This pioneering project marks a significant milestone in promoting gender equality and sustainable energy solutions.

The team of 28 female engineers, trained and certified by NED University, installed a 24 KW solar system with 6 lithium batteries on the rooftop of Hooseini Yateem Khana, an orphanage in Karachi. This achievement is not only a national first but also believed to be the world’s first all-female team solar roof installation.

The project was made possible through a collaboration between LADIESFUND Energy, Dawood Global Foundation (DGF), and KFW DEG Impulse and developpp. The vocational training program aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of female engineers in the energy sector.

Tara Uzra Dawood, CEO of LADIESFUND Energy, emphasized the dual objective of the initiative: to train and hire female engineers and to act as a feeder to the broader energy sector. She invited wider participation to promote female representation and contribute to a better environmental landscape in Pakistan.

The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Mayor of Karachi, who pledged support for future training programs. Syed Nasir Hussain Shah in his message announced
