Urges Youth to Focus on Skills, Warns Against Anti-State Activities
ISLAMABAD: In a message marking Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced plans for a significant reduction in electricity tariffs, aiming to alleviate the financial burden on citizens and boost the nation’s industry, agriculture, and exports. Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, PM Shehbaz acknowledged that rising electricity bills have become a pressing concern and assured the nation that the government is working tirelessly to address the issue. He promised that the public would soon receive good news regarding a substantial cut in power tariffs.
The Prime Minister also urged the youth to support the government’s efforts to build a prosperous and stable Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of focusing on skill-based education and cautioned against being swayed by anti-state propaganda, which he described as a tool used by enemies to disrupt the country’s progress.
The PM also paid tribute to the sacrifices of the nation’s forefathers and heroes of the Pakistan Movement, and reiterated his commitment to fulfilling Quaid-e-Azam’s vision of a strong, independent Pakistan. The announcement of the government’s five-year economic plan has been rescheduled for next week, which is expected to include key measures to strengthen the local economy and attract investment.
PM Shehbaz condemned the ongoing violence against Palestinians and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The ceremony concluded with a flag-hoisting at the Pakistan Monument, with notable attendees including Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani.
