ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has levied a Rs10 million fine on the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) for its failure to ensure proper earthing and grounding of high-tension and low-tension poles across its service area.
In its ruling, NEPRA stated that after reviewing IESCO’s submissions, the company’s response to a show-cause notice was deemed unsatisfactory. The notice had been issued over IESCO’s inability to ensure 100% grounding of its electrical structures, violating NEPRA regulations.
NEPRA has directed IESCO to ground all remaining steel structures within three months and PCC poles within one year, warning that further penalties could follow for non-compliance. The company is required to pay the fine within 15 days or face additional legal actions.
