OGDCL Signs MOU with China’s CCDC for Shale and Tight Gas Development

In a significant move aimed at addressing Pakistan’s energy needs, the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China’s CCDC, a leading player in drilling and upstream oil field services. The agreement focuses on exploring Pakistan’s shale and tight gas potential, utilizing indigenous resources to meet the country’s growing energy demands.

The MOU was signed by OGDCL’s Executive Director (Production), Mr. Mumtaz Ali Soomro, and CCDC’s Vice President, Mr. Zhang Zhidong, during the 8th Silk Road International Exposition in Xi’an, China. Pakistan attended the event as the “Country of Honor,” with the signing ceremony witnessed by Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Energy, Dr. Musadik Malik, and Ambassador to China, Mr. Khalil Hashmi.

Dr. Malik expressed his gratitude to China, emphasizing that the partnership would strengthen energy cooperation between the two nations. The collaboration is expected to unlock Pakistan’s untapped shale and tight gas potential, marking a new chapter in the country’s energy sector development.
