ISLAMABAD: Consumers may experience a sharp rise in fuel prices, with high-speed diesel (HSD) potentially increasing by up to Rs10.25 per liter starting October 16, 2024. Preliminary estimates suggest petrol prices could increase by Rs3.95 per liter, kerosene oil by Rs7.85 per liter, and light diesel oil (LDO) by Rs8.33 per liter.

Pakistan State Oil (PSO) is finalizing a working paper, which will be submitted to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on October 15. Following OGRA’s review, the government will give final approval, with the Finance Ministry expected to announce the new prices shortly after.

Additionally, OGRA has proposed a Rs2.75 per liter increase to raise profit margins for oil companies and petrol dealers. This could bring petrol prices to Rs250.98 per liter, HSD to Rs256.54, kerosene oil to Rs162.75, and LDO to Rs149.23. The hike is poised to impact transportation costs and increase prices of essential goods and services across Pakistan.
