The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a significant gas discovery at the Shahu-1 exploratory well in the Sawan South Block, located in Khairpur, Sindh. The discovery is part of a joint venture, with OGDCL holding a 20% working interest, United Energy Pakistan Limited (UEPL) at 75%, and both Government Holding Private Limited (GHPL) and Sindh Energy Holding Limited (SEHL) each holding 2.5%.
The Shahu-1 well is projected to produce approximately 10 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) of gas. This discovery not only de-risks further exploration in the Sawan South Block but also contributes to enhancing Pakistan’s energy security by expanding its hydrocarbon reserves. OGDCL remains committed to boosting domestic energy production through sustainable exploration and development initiatives.
