South Africa: Eskom, the South African utility, has invited bids for an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor to develop a 72 MW solar PV project at its Komati Power Station.
The project will involve designing, procuring, constructing, and commissioning a solar PV system across four adjacent land parcels near Middelburg and Bethel. The EPC contractor will also provide detailed design documentation, maintenance manuals, and an 18-month operation and maintenance service for a single-axis tracker system, along with network integration equipment.
Komati Power Station, with nine generating units and a total capacity of 1 GW, originally opened in the 1960s. Eskom’s solar initiative marks a step toward repurposing coal power infrastructure for renewable energy.
The tender deadline is February 13 at 10 a.m. South African Standard Time. Full tender documents are available on Eskom’s website.
