KARACHI: Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, during a meeting with a delegation of Thar Coal project-affected individuals on Friday, assured them of the government’s unwavering support in addressing their grievances. The delegation, comprising Bhim Raj, Leelaram, and other community representatives, raised concerns about employment, access to clean water, and basic amenities.
Minister Shah reaffirmed the Sindh government’s commitment to resolving these issues, emphasizing the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) focus on community welfare. “Our leadership, including PPP President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Faryal Talpur, and the Sindh Chief Minister, has prioritised the welfare of Thar’s local communities,” he stated.
To strengthen accountability and representation, Shah announced the inclusion of a Thar Coal affectees’ representative in the decision-making committee overseeing regional development projects. Additionally, he directed the local administration to urgently address the legitimate demands of the community.
Highlighting the government’s proactive measures, Shah noted that PPP-led training programs are being launched to equip locals with skills and create employment opportunities. He reiterated the Sindh government’s commitment to balancing developmental progress with the rights and well-being of the people of Thar.
“This government remains fully dedicated to empowering and supporting the people of Thar,” Shah concluded, promising a collaborative approach to address the community’s concerns.
