KARACHI: Engro Holdings Limited, one of Pakistan’s leading conglomerates, has announced the appointment of Abdul Samad Dawood as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 3, 2025. The decision was approved by the company’s Board of Directors (BoD) in a meeting held the same day.
In a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Engro Holdings expressed its gratitude to outgoing CEO Mohammad Shamoon Chaudry for his invaluable contributions during his tenure.
About Abdul Samad Dawood
Abdul Samad Dawood brings over two decades of experience in management and governance to his new role. Currently serving as Vice Chair of the Board of Dawood Hercules Corporation, Dawood has a strong track record in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), including major deals like the Dawood Group’s acquisition of HUBCO in 2012 and the sale of DH Fertilizers in 2015.
A graduate in economics from University College London and a certified corporate governance professional from the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance, Dawood has held prominent leadership positions, including CEO roles at Dawood Hercules Corporation Ltd and Cyan Ltd.
He has also played a pivotal role in strategic transactions, such as the merger of Engro Foods with Royal FrieslandCampina, and currently chairs FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan.
Dawood serves on the Boards of key organizations, including The Dawood Foundation, KSBL, Cyan Ltd, Dawood Lawrencepur Ltd, and Reon (Pvt) Ltd, and is an active director of the Pakistan Business Council (PBC).
His appointment marks a new chapter for Engro Holdings, as the company continues to strengthen its position as a leading conglomerate in Pakistan.
