LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced ambitious plans to advance solar energy initiatives across the province.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed the swift implementation of free solar energy schemes for citizens, with a major focus on converting government buildings to solar power by June. The renewable energy project aims to reduce reliance on conventional power sources while promoting sustainability.
During a review meeting led by Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, it was revealed that Rs 6 billion has been allocated for solar energy projects, including plans for the Punjab Assembly, the Institute of Cardiology, and other public sector departments.
The government is also expediting the distribution of solar-powered solutions to farmers under the Chief Minister Kisan Card program, ensuring equitable energy access and supporting agricultural productivity.
