MoU signed between Sir Syed University and Redstone Energy at the Governor House

KARACHI, February 13, 2025 – A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology and Redstone Energy at a ceremony held at the Governor House under which the power system of Sir Syed University will be converted to solar energy. As a result of the agreement with Redstone, Sir Syed University will save about five crore rupees annually. The event was attended by the Registrar SSUET, Cdre. (R) Syed Sarfraz Ali, Additional Registrar Zubair Hameedi, Dean Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amir, Dean Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture Prof. Dr. Mir Shabbar Ali, Director Maintenance Muhammad Deen, Director Finance Munaf Advani, Dr. Sidra Abid Syed and others.

Addressing the ceremony, Governor Sindh Kamran Kahn Tessori said that the agreement between Redstone Energy and Sir Syed University will save Sir Syed University a huge amount of money annually, and this saving would be used to provide scholarships to the students and it would be spent on research and development, and to fulfill the educational needs of students. Other universities in the province will also adopt the solar energy solution, which will make educational institutions autonomous. Governor Tessori said that our initiatives are bring a positive impacts across the province.

Vice Chancellor SSUET, Dr. Munawar Hussain said that the agreement with Redstone Energy is a milestone in converting our university into a solar energy system. Today we are facing an energy crisis, and in this situation, moving towards renewable energy sources is the need of the hour. Solar energy is a clean, safe, and sustainable source that can lead us to an eco-friendly future. This partnership with Redstone Energy will not only make us eco-friendly but will also significantly reduce energy costs and we will be able to use the money saved for the welfare and educational development of students. This initiative will set an example for other educational institutions, and they will also be attracted to adopt eco-friendly energy solutions. Appreciating the vision of Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori, he said that the Governor is working for the common man and he not only listens to their problems but also tries his best to solve them.
