ISLAMABAD: The World Bank is expected to approve the restructuring of the National Transmission Modernization Project-I (NTMP-I), a $425 million initiative aimed at enhancing the capacity and reliability of Pakistan’s power transmission network while modernizing key operations of the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC).
According to official documents, this marks the third restructuring of the project and the second phase of a planned two-stage extension. The proposed changes include extending the project’s closing date by 20 months, shifting from April 30, 2025, to December 31, 2026.
With previous adjustments already made, the extension is intended to ensure the successful implementation of critical transmission upgrades, reinforcing Pakistan’s power infrastructure to meet growing energy demands.
