Pakistan’s net metering solar capacity has surpassed the 4 GW milestone, marking a significant achievement in the country’s transition to renewable energy. According to recent data, the total installed capacity of net metering systems in Pakistan has reached 4.03 GW.
This growth is attributed to the increasing adoption of solar energy among residential, commercial, and industrial consumers, driven by the country’s net metering policy. The policy allows consumers to generate their own electricity and export any surplus to the grid, reducing their reliance on traditional energy sources.
Pakistan’s government has set ambitious renewable energy targets, aiming to increase the share of renewable energy in the country’s energy mix to 20% by 2025 and 30% by 2030. The growth of net metering solar capacity is expected to play a crucial role in achieving these targets.
The increasing demand for solar energy has also led to a growth in the country’s solar industry, with several local and international companies investing in solar manufacturing and installation.
