Islamabad: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has released the latest data on river inflows, outflows, and reservoir levels across the country, highlighting the current water situation at major dams and barrages.
River Flows:
- Indus at Tarbela recorded inflows of 19,300 cusecs and outflows of 15,000 cusecs.
- Kabul River at Nowshera showed equal inflows and outflows of 17,100 cusecs.
- Khairabad Bridge maintained a steady flow with both inflows and outflows at 30,600 cusecs.
- Jhelum at Mangla registered inflows of 22,300 cusecs and outflows of 15,000 cusecs.
- Chenab at Marala had inflows of 5,300 cusecs and outflows of 1,600 cusecs.
Barrages:
- Jinnah Barrage recorded 35,200 cusecs inflows and 32,100 cusecs outflows.
- Chashma Barrage had 27,200 cusecs inflows against 32,000 cusecs outflows.
- Taunsa witnessed 30,500 cusecs inflows and 30,300 cusecs outflows.
- Guddu showed inflows and outflows at 16,600 cusecs, while Sukkur saw inflows of 16,500 cusecs and outflows of 6,000 cusecs.
- Kotri Barrage reported inflows of 4,600 cusecs with minimal outflows of 200 cusecs.
- Trimmu had inflows of 5,000 cusecs and outflows of 2,200 cusecs, whereas Panjnad received 1,600 cusecs with no outflows.
Reservoir Levels:
- Tarbela Dam stands at 1,411.03 feet, with a live storage of 0.098 million acre-feet (MAF), against its maximum conservation level of 1,550 feet.
- Mangla Dam is at 1,085.00 feet, storing 0.198 MAF, with a maximum level of 1,242 feet.
- Chashma Barrage maintains a level of 643.70 feet with 0.104 MAF live storage, close to its conservation limit of 649 feet.
The inflow and outflow figures at key locations such as Tarbela, Jinnah, Chashma, Nowshera, and Mangla reflect 24-hour mean flows, while other locations were measured at 6:00 a.m. This regular monitoring helps authorities manage water resources effectively for irrigation, power generation, and drinking water supply.
