Athens, April 1st, 2025 – LONGi Solar, a global leader in solar technology, has announced a groundbreaking 225.9MW solar project in Greece, marking the largest deployment of Back Contact (BC) technology in Europe to date. This achievement highlights the dominance of LONGi’s Hi-MO 9 in utility-scale renewable energy projects and establishes BC technology as the future of photovoltaic innovation.
Unrivaled Scale and Efficiency
The project utilizes the Hi-MO 9’s exceptional power output of up to 660W and module conversion efficiency of 24.43%, outperforming conventional TOPCon modules by 3% in real-world energy yield. With its HPBC 2.0 technology, the Hi-MO 9 is optimized for high-density installations in Southern Europe’s high-irradiance environments, minimizing land use while maximizing energy production—a critical advantage for regions balancing ecological preservation with energy security.
A Strategic Leap for Europe’s Renewable Future
This deployment underscores the potential of BC technology to accelerate Europe’s renewable energy transition. The project will generate approximately 360 GWh of clean energy annually, reducing CO2 emissions by over 200,000 tonnes—equivalent to powering 90,000 households. The scalability of this initiative also paves the way for the widespread adoption of BC technology across Europe, supporting the continent’s decarbonization goals.
Mr. Leon Zhang, President of LONGi Europe, commented, “This 225.9MW project isn’t just a milestone—it’s a statement. Europe’s energy transition demands technologies that combine exceptional efficiency with long-term reliability, and Hi-MO 9 delivers on that promise. As the largest BC deployment in Europe, this project demonstrates that solar energy’s future is now, and we’re proud to collaborate with forward-thinking partners who understand that BC technology leads the way in renewable energy.”
