Karachi, April 10, 2025: Italy is aiming to double its bilateral trade with Pakistan to at least $3 billion in the coming years, announced Italian Consul General in Karachi, Fabrizio Bielli, during his visit to the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI).
Highlighting Karachi’s economic significance, Bielli described the city as rich with untapped opportunities, particularly in energy, agriculture, water recycling, and industrial machinery. He emphasized Italy’s global leadership in advanced medical equipment and textile machinery, expressing Italy’s readiness to support Pakistan’s development, especially in the healthcare sector.
Bielli, who took office two months ago, encouraged KCCI to submit a triannual sectoral requirement report to help Italian institutions and businesses align with Pakistan’s economic needs. He also urged local enterprises to actively engage with the Italian Trade Promotion Section at the Consulate, which is focused on supporting SMEs.
“More than just a window, a door is open at the Italian Consulate for fostering trade and investment,” Bielli remarked.
KCCI Senior Vice President Ziaul Arfeen noted that bilateral trade reached $1.6 billion in FY24, with Pakistan’s exports to Italy totaling $1.12 billion. He added that rising US tariffs provide a valuable opportunity for Pakistan to enhance economic cooperation with countries like Italy.
