ISLAMABAD: Highlighting the need to boost trade, Caretaker Federal Minister for Commerce and Industry, Gohar Ejaz, expressed Pakistan’s ambition to elevate bilateral trade with Saudi Arabia to $20 billion.
Addressing the Pakistan-Saudi Business Forum in Riyadh, Ejaz emphasized the intention to enact legislation to foster bilateral investment, as per a press release from the commerce ministry.
Ejaz also held discussions with Saudi Minister of Commerce, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Kassabi, focusing on augmenting investments in sectors like construction, digital economy, and infrastructure.
During the forum, Hassan Al Hazawi, Chairman of the Saudi Business Forum, noted a 35% increase in bilateral trade between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
In a separate development, SAPM Jawad Sohrab Malik inked an agreement with NESMA & Partners for sending skilled Pakistani labor to Saudi Arabia’s construction sector. The pact, signed at the Pakistan Embassy in Riyadh between the Pakistan Overseas Employment Corporation (POEC) and NESMA&P, is anticipated to generate significant job opportunities and bolster economic ties between the two nations.
