NEECA Unveils Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) 2023 in Islamabad

Islamabad – The National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA), in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, has launched the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) 2023 in Islamabad.

In his keynote address, NEECA’s Managing Director described the ECBC 2023 as a transformative framework set to revolutionize building practices nationwide. He emphasized that this building code is not merely a document but a vigorous, actionable plan aimed at significantly reducing energy consumption and generating substantial cost savings for building owners and occupants.

Wolfgang Hesse, Cluster Coordinator from GIZ Pakistan, discussed the critical partnership between NEECA and GIZ, highlighting how international collaboration has been pivotal in formulating and preparing for the comprehensive implementation of the ECBC 2023. He praised the code as a prime example of efforts to foster sustainable development and achieve global environmental goals.

Presentations by NEECA officials and the Building Energy Research Center (BERC) meticulously outlined the salient features of the ECBC 2023, detailing its profound impact on the construction industry. They provided expert analysis on the technical aspects of energy-efficient building design, underscoring the manifold advantages of adhering to the ECBC guidelines.
