MOL Discovers Hydrocarbons in Kohat

ISLAMABAD: Hungarian oil and gas company MOL has announced a significant hydrocarbon discovery at an exploratory well in the Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The discovery was made in the Razgir-1 Exploratory well, part of the TAL Joint Venture, which MOL operates.

The joint venture includes MOL Pakistan Oil & Gas Co. B.V. as the operator, alongside its partners, Oil & Gas Development Company Ltd, Pakistan Petroleum Ltd, Pakistan Oilfields Ltd (POL), and Government Holdings Private Ltd.

The Razgir-1 well, spudded on January 9, 2024, was drilled to a depth of 3,774 meters. The well has successfully yielded gas condensate from the Lockhart Formation, with an output of approximately 17.9 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and 153 barrels of condensate per day. The discovery marks a positive development for the region’s energy sector.
