Karachi The government should extend foolproof protection to the foreign and Pakistani workers working on strategically vital power projects to ensure Pakistan’s energy security.
In its latest statement, the Embassy of China in Islamabad called on Pakistan’s government to beef up the security for Chinese nationals, business organisations, and China-backed developed projects in the country.
The statement was issued after an attack near Karachi Airport on the convoy transporting the Chinese employees of Port Qasim Electric Power Company. The attack killed two Chinese nationals and injured another Chinese.
The Chinese Embassy and Consulate General in Karachi condemned the terrorist attack. They condoled with the persons and families from both countries that had been affected by the terror attack. The Chinese Embassy said that it had been working with the Pakistani authorities to tackle the situation arising out of the terror attack. The Chinese Embassy and Consulate General have launched an emergency programme in this regard to speedily conclude an investigation into the latest terror attack.
The Chinese diplomatic missions in Pakistan have warned Chinese nationals, business organisations, and China-funded projects to remain vigilant for security affairs.
These institutions have been asked to give fullest attention to the security details, protection, and security arrangements for them.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, visited the Chinese Consulate General in Karachi a day after the terror attack at Karachi Airport.
The Sindh CM met Chinese Consul General Yang Yundong for condolence. The CM said that he was deeply saddened by the loss of Chinese nationals as a result of the terror attack. Shah condoled with the Chinese government and bereaved families. He also wrote remarks in the condolence book.
The CM was accompanied by Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, and Inspector General of Sindh Police Ghulam Nabi Memon.
