ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to domestic consumers during the winter season, emphasizing it as a top government priority.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) issued a notice following a review meeting on the country’s gas supply. Taking note of complaints regarding reduced gas availability, the prime minister stressed the need for structural reforms in the energy sector to address supply challenges permanently.
Officials briefed the prime minister that surplus RLNG in the system has improved load management compared to last year, reducing gas load-shedding. Gas is currently supplied to domestic consumers from 5 AM to 10 PM, with the power sector receiving adequate gas as per demand.
It was highlighted that SNGPL and SSGC’s online dashboards are actively addressing consumer complaints, achieving complaint resolution rates of 93% and 79%, respectively. Additionally, all gas fields in the country remain fully operational.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahsan Khan Cheema, Petroleum Minister Musadik Malik, Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal, and other senior officials.
