Riyadh – Pakistan made a resounding impact at the Future Minerals Forum (FMF) 2025, highlighting its vast, untapped mineral wealth and positioning itself as a premier destination for global mining investments.
The delegation’s session commenced with the screening of Beneath the Surface: Pakistan’s Mining Renaissance, a compelling documentary that showcased the country’s rich reserves of gemstones, non-metallic minerals, industrial minerals, metals, and rare-earth elements.
A high-profile panel discussion titled Pakistan: The Mineral Marvel – Unlocking the Future of Mining followed, moderated by Mr. Imran Abbasy, Managing Director of Pakistan Petroleum Limited. The panel included Dr. Musadik Malik, Minister of Petroleum and Water Resources; Timothy Cribb, Project Director at Barrick, Reko Diq; and Mr. Asad Ahmed, Managing Director of Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation. Dr. Malik emphasized the government’s focus on transformative policy reforms, institutional capacity building, and alignment with global shifts toward sustainable, green energy.
The Pakistan Pavilion at FMF 2025 attracted over 10,000 delegates, showcasing the country’s mining potential through engaging exhibits, government representatives, state-owned enterprises, and private sector collaborations. The pavilion also facilitated four landmark Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between Wah Nobel Group and Saudi Gold Refinery, witnessed by Dr. Musadik Malik. These agreements mark a significant milestone, enabling Wah Nobel to provide advanced drilling and blasting services to Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Malik further leveraged the forum’s platform to engage with US-based investors, using a 3D mineral map of Pakistan to vividly demonstrate the country’s resource wealth.
The closing ceremony saw H.E. Mr. Bandar Ibrahim Alkhorayef, Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, commend Pakistan’s delegation for their efforts. He presented a token of appreciation, particularly praising the visually striking and informative pavilion design that effectively showcased the nation’s mining sector.
Pakistan’s successful participation at FMF 2025 not only fostered valuable collaborations but also solidified its status as a rising global leader in the mining industry.
