KARACHI: Saudi Arabia continues to be one of the most favored international destinations for Pakistani travelers, experiencing a remarkable 100% year-on-year growth, according to travel mobile application Wego. This surge in demand aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to boost the Kingdom’s tourism industry through ambitious mega-projects.
As the home of Islam’s two holiest cities, Makkah and Madinah, Saudi Arabia holds immense religious significance for millions of Muslims, particularly Pakistanis, who travel frequently for religious tourism, as well as for work and residence.
The Kingdom’s tourism sector is growing rapidly, driven by developments such as NEOM, a futuristic city along the Red Sea, and The Red Sea Project, which focuses on luxury and eco-tourism, poised to redefine global travel standards.
Wego, the leading online travel marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), reported a 120% increase in domestic flight searches on its platform, with Saudi Arabia continuing to be a top destination for Pakistani travelers. The company’s newly launched ‘Book on Wego’ function enables users to book flights and hotels directly through Wego’s apps and platforms, offering a seamless, localized booking experience tailored to Pakistani travelers.
Wego’s expansion into Pakistan’s growing travel market reinforces its commitment to providing greater flexibility and choice to local travelers. The company will also participate in the 2025 Pakistan Travel Mart (PTM), the country’s largest travel and tourism event, aiming to further engage with the local travel community.
Saudi Arabia is also home to over two million Pakistani nationals, making it the largest source of foreign remittances for Pakistan.
