LAHORE: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Haroon Akhtar Khan on Saturday visited the site of Suzuki Company Limited’s proposed biogas plant at Manga Mandi, Lahore. He was warmly welcomed by Hiroshi Kawamura, Managing Director of Suzuki Pakistan.
According to an official statement, Khan praised Suzuki’s initiative to develop a biogas facility for vehicles, calling it a crucial step towards Pakistan’s clean energy future. He stressed that biogas holds immense potential to reduce the country’s reliance on expensive oil and LNG imports.
Highlighting the prime minister’s Uraan Vision for promoting clean and sustainable energy, Khan said projects like Suzuki’s biogas plant could deliver significant economic benefits to local farmers while contributing to environmental conservation.
He directed stakeholders to expedite the project’s implementation, emphasizing its environmental and economic advantages.
Suzuki representatives explained that vehicles would continue to operate on petrol where biogas supply is unavailable. Khan reaffirmed the government’s full support for initiatives that reduce carbon emissions and advance the transition to greener energy solutions
